a word element meaning `suffering', `feeling', as in anthropopathy, antipathy, sympathy, and often, especially in words of modern formation, `morbid affection', `disease', as in neuropathy, psychopathy, and hence used also in names of systems or methods of treating disease, as in homeopathy, osteopathy.
